We would like to take this time to thank everyone at this holiday season. We at the Philippine Dance Company of Rochester are so grateful to you all for your support, encouragement, and love. We exceeded all expectations in this, our first year of being a full fledged dance company. We have been overwhelmed by all the help, and donations towards all our fundraising events. We had our share of first year stumbles, but they have all become learning experiences and positive. We love all our dancers who have worked so hard at each and every performance, and thank them so much for all their efforts. To all the volunteers, thank you all so very much! Without your help, we would be hard pressed to go on. And to the Filipino-American community, we want to express our deepest gratitude. Without you all supporting us, and cheering our dancers on, we would not have the will to continue. You all are the heart of PDCOR, and we look forward to serving you all into the future. God Bless you all, and have a Happy New Year!

The Philippine Dance Company of Rochester, Inc. (PDCOR) Appointed Officer's for 2014
The Philippine Dance Company of Rochester had its beginnings in 2006, when founding members Evan and Merle Snow, had their children, Aljon and Mayrell, performed the Tinikling and Surtido at Open Door Baptist Church for their Annual International Missions Conference. They were then asked to perform at the Asian Heritage Family Day for the Memorial Art Gallery of Rochester, NY the following spring, to great applause. They have performed there ever since, representing the Philippine community with pride. Since then, they have performed for Open Door and the Memorial Art Gallery again, as well as for other events, in United States, such as Transfiguration Lutheran Church, Rotary International, Rochester Rotary Latino Club, Wegman's, and NOBITAS in Canada.
In May 2011, they become an independent troupe, adopting the official name of The Philippine Dance Company of Rochester, devoted to the promotion of Philippine culture through dance. The Philippine Dance Company of Rochester (PDCOR) is a member of the Rochester Arts Council, and was approved by the New York State as a Not-For-Profit Organization. With the leadership of the founding members, we have 20 Officers and 10 Board Members and an Appointed Legal Counsel.
In addition to performances, PDCOR members also participate in fundraising activities to assist those in need, through meal delivery services to cancer patients, clothing and bottle drives.

Our Car Wash was a success!
August 27th was the date of our last car wash fundraiser, and it was a huge success! Enough funds were raised to pay for the expenses of PDCOR's upcoming performance in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada! The girls had a great amount of fun with the car washes, and they all appreciated the help of all the volunteers, in particular - Gregg Starks, Robb Mushtare III, and Aldrin Lopez.
There was a great show of support for our cause, in the Filipino and American community. In particular, the Blue Boys Family (Tikboy & Bella ) members of the Rochester Hot Rod Club, the congregation of the Transfiguration Lutheran Church of Irondequoit, and the staff and management of Walgreen's - Irondequoit. Half of the money collected will go directly towards supporting the Friends In Need meals delivery service.
Everybody did their fair share to help, even the kids of one of our volunteers, Fedeling Harding were willing to give it a try, as well as Roselyn Sansone and daughter Maria Rose. Much thanks to all those who stopped by to bring food for our lovely ladies and volunteers!
Thank so so much for all your support!!

Block Rosary of Rochester 2011 Annual Picnic
Last August 21, 2011, The Philippine Dance Company of Rochester was invited by the Block Rosary Group to perform at their annual picnic, at Genesee Valley County Park in Rochester, New York. The girls appreciated this opportunity to perform very much, and we all enjoyed our time at the picnic. It was an honor for PDCOR to be given the chance to perform for them. Thanks to Ethel Conley and Clare Maloney, for the generous donation of bottles to our bottle drive. Special thanks to Dra. Fe Whitcomb, president of the Block Rosary, Susan Rivaldo, Bella Ambubuyog, Blandina Bergado, and of course the Blue Boys Family! Thank you all so much!

"Friends In Need" meals delivery service
This past Spring, the members of PDCOR launched their "Friends In Need" meals delivery program, when they were made aware of a local Filipina who was suffering a relapse of bone cancer. While she is undergoing her chemotherapy, she has become very weak. By providing freshly cooked meals to her, she has been able to relax more and not be concerned with cooking for her family. PDCOR also was able to provide meals for another Filipina, who had complications while giving birth. Feel free to contact us, if you know of anyone who would benefit from this program.
Supplementing this program are the various fundraising events that PDCOR participates in, such as the ongoing Bottle Drive, and upcoming car wash. Thanks to the generous donations of bottles, hard working volunteers, tireless cooks, and of course our lovely dancers, this program continues to be a growing success! May God Bless you all, for your giving hearts!

Friends of Anna Fundraising
Last April 2011, Merle Snow- President of PDCOR & Shining Jewel Event Planning, and her friend Caroline Ader organized a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser to help their friend Anna Lin from Taiwan with her medical bills, because she has no health insurance. She was a breast cancer survivor then diagnosed with throat cancer. The event was a success through the support of PDCOR, and volunteers. Special thanks to the De Sio Family (Grace, Virgil & Nanay), Villegas Family, Henry Family, Sansone Family, Rafael's Family, and other friends who supported the event. We could not have done this without your support. God has truly blessed you all with good hearts. If we continue to work together, we can do great things and achieve miracles.
One of the important missions of the Philippine Dance Company of Rochester is to help a local cancer patient with her treatment, and to those in need, through their "Friends In Need" meal delivery service. Cancer treatment survival is 90% willpower. Without the positive support from friends and family, and keeping your stress levels low, your chance of survival drops to zero. We who have been through this trial ourselves know the importance of this, and have been blessed with our families and such good friends. God is good.
Proverbs 22:9
"A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor."

Surtido - Aljon & Mayrell Cesista |
The Philippine Dance Company of Rochester had its beginnings in 2006, when founding members Evan and Merle Snow, and their children Aljon and Mayrell perform the Philippine folk dances, "Tinikling", performed with bamboo poles which the dancers jump over, and Surtido, a spanish influenced folk dance, at Open Door Baptist Church for their Annual International Missions Conference. They were then asked to perform at the Asian Heritage Family Day at the Memorial Art Gallery of Rochester, NY the following spring, to great applause. They have performed there ever since, representing the Philippine community with pride. Since then the membership rolls have increased, as more people have become aware of the company's existence. The dance repertoire has expanded from the original two dances to eight standards, including the crowd favorites, "Itik-Itik" (Duck Dance), "Kappa Malong-Malong" and the "Bulaklakan" (Flower Dance), with more on the way.
In May 2011, all members of the dance troupe voted to become an independent troupe, devoted to the promotion of Philippine culture through dance. Now the Philippine Dance Company of Rochester (PDCOR) stands as a self-supporting, not-for-profit group. PDCOR welcomes any person interested in participating in dance performances and now boasts over 25 permanent members. Recent performances have included local churches, schools, picnics, and Philippine cultural events in Toronto, Canada.
In addition to performances, PDCOR members also participate in fundraising activities to assist those in need, through meal delivery services to cancer patients, car-washes, clothing and bottle drives, the "Dress a Girl Around the World " ministry for orphans throughout the world and most recently to raise funds for the typhoon relief effort in the Philippines, through performances and by Christmas caroling door to door.
Psalm 149:3 NIV
Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp.
